Here is a page from Pappy’s notebook in which he writes about the death of his father, Eduard Scharff. I recall Pappy’s handwriting, as I’m sure many of you do too. Recall in this post that Eduard succumbed on 18 November 1917 to lobar pneumonia in Ft.Worth, Texas. I’d wondered why his remains were taken over 700 miles to St. Louis for cremation. Pappy’s note makes it clear that:
in accordance with my departed father’s wishes his ashes were scattered upon the Mississippi River.
