In 1914 and 1915, Simon and Dora Ghertner were listed in the Nashville city directory as living at 706 Shirley Street. Baby Alven came home to Shirley Street and likely so did newborn Gerald. The move to 1702 Ashwood Avenue occurred before the 1916 directory was compiled.Infant Leonard’s first home was the Ashwood Avenue address.
And, Jean and Leonard Ghertner appeared in the 1944 Little Rock city directory as residents of ‘3001 Zark av’, which was obviously 3001 Ozark. It’s possible Jean and Lenny (before being shipped out to Europe after D-Day, 6 June 1944, were house-sitting as Em & Pappy were ‘living’ on Army bases.
