In the center of this photo is Lynton “Pappy” Scharff (1897-1985). He is pictured with two cousins in Germany at the time Pappy was sent there to study and become Bar Mitvah. His mother had just passed away 5 April 1909 of tuberculosis in an El Paso, Tx. sanitarium. There may have been no Jewish community near Welsh, Louisiana to enable him to have become Bar Mitzvah.
NOTE: On some pages, I’ve used images that pertain to the family or person which is the subject of the page or post. The ‘default’ header image will display where no specific photo has been chosen. Not all photo scans can be used as wide angle page headers. On this page find the page header photos in use.
